Gandhi Brigade Youth Media Students Take Part in Smithsonian’s Folk Life Festival
Students from Gandhi Brigade are participating this weekend in the Smithsonian’s Folk Life Festival.
The event takes place from now thru Monday, according to Evan Glass, executive director of Gandhi Brigade Youth Media.
“Our students will participate on the National Mall between June 29 and July 3, where they will be interviewing attendees and capturing the event for future storytelling,” Glass said.
These youth media students are interviewing attendees and using digital media to capture the “On the Move: Migration Across the Generations,” project, which Glass said promotes the perspectives of youth, past and present.
Glass said the program invites intergenerational conversations about the interplay of migration, creativity and culture. It also highlights the social power of tradition and art, and focuses on how young people assume responsibility as bridge builders among communities, generations and to the future.
“One of our youth will also participate in a panel conversation about migration and home life,” Glass said.
