Gandhi Brigade Youth Media Festival Celebrates Six Years (Video)

The Gandhi Brigade, a Silver Spring-based nonprofit for teens, celebrated six years on May 11 of hosting the Just Us Youth Media Festival For Change.

This year, the festival received about 130 submissions, including some from Montgomery County teens.

“There is a big thirst for young people to have an audience; to have a chance to show their work. A chance for youth producers to meet each other,” said Richard Jaeggi, Gandhi Brigade’s executive director.

The desire to have a voice is so strong, students from as far as New York and California submitted their work into the competition, he added.

This year’s festival, sponsored by Comcast, included an awards ceremony, film screening, four-hour film competition, workshops and outdoor entertainment.

Media Manipulation was the winner for the Comcast Sponsored Four-Hour PSA competition.
