Gaithersburg ‘Shop With a Cop’ Program Partners Officers with Youth (PHOTOS)

The Gaithersburg Police Department partnered with Lakeforest Mall to host the second “Shop With a Cop” holiday event on Tuesday, December 8th.

According to a city news release, Lakeforest Mall donated gift cards so that children can purchase holiday gifts for themselves and their family members.

Ten police officers from both the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Police Departments were each paired with a child for a holiday shopping excursion at the mall. The children were selected from referrals to Gaithersburg’s Holiday Giving program. After shopping, participants and police officers took pictures with Santa and then returned to Red Robin restaurant to enjoy a meal. While the children dined, Explorers from the Montgomery County Police Explorers Post 1986 wrapped their gifts.
