Gaithersburg Town House Fire Displaces 14 Residents
Approximately 100 Montgomery County firefighters responded to a two-alarm townhouse fire at 17 Silver Kettle Court in Gaithersburg around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said the two alarm fire originated in the basement of the Shady Grove Village townhouse.
Piringer described the scene on his Twitter account as an “active firefight” before the blaze was brought under control.
According to Piringer, a resident and a firefighter were evaluated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries. A dog died in the blaze, Piringer said.
Piringer said the Red Cross is on the scene helping over a dozen residents with housing. He said three families, including four children, were displaced by the blaze.
Damage is estimated at $350,000.
So far, no word on what caused the fire.

I am confused, as to why this single family had 14 people in ? These are single family homes and not designed for that many people. Why does the home owners assc allow such this ?
not all were residents of this unit, most were visiting and leaving on Sunday. I wish the HOA could address this.
