Gaithersburg Sportsfest Set for July 19

gmascotThe second annual Gaithersburg SportsFest will be held on Saturday, July 19 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm, 506 South Frederick Avenue and admission is free.

At this youth sporting event, kids entering grades K through 8 can participate in a variety of sports including baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, track and field and volleyball.

The Gaithersburg Sports philosophy of participation over competition will be on display as the day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a 1K Fun Run through Bohrer Park.

After that, participants can test their skills as they visit each of the challenge stations located on the front lawn and inside the Activity Center. After completion of events, participants will receive a prize. The event will also feature “Coach G,” the official Gaithersburg Sports mascot, and members of the city’s own Gaithersburg Giants.

Gaithersburg sports programs are designed to get residents out and moving in a positive and safe atmosphere.

The Sportsfest event is sponsored by the Gaithersburg Giants and British Soccer.
