Gaithersburg Police Chief Message to Immigrants: ‘Report to Crimes to Police’
Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka has a message for immigrants: don’t let your status scare you from reporting crimes.
In a video statement, Sroka explained that Gaithersburg police officers will not investigate or make an inquiry relative to the immigration status of individuals during routine actions.
“If people are afraid to have contact with the local police, they will not report crimes, serve as witnesses, or tell the police what is going on in their neighborhoods,” he said.
