Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka Honors City Employee for Saving a Life (VIDEO)
A Gaithersburg counselor at the Wells/Robertson House is being recognized for going beyond the call of duty to save a life.
At a Gaithersburg City Council meeting last night, Police Chief Mark Sroka recognized Michelle Jones for her lifesaving efforts at the Wells/Robertson House on Jan. 7th. The Wells/Robertson House provides transitional housing for the homeless.
According to the chief, Jones was working at the Wells/Robertson House that day when she heard a crash from an upstairs bedroom. After calling 9-1-1, Jones went to the bedroom where she found a 29-year-old man convulsing on the floor. Without any hesitation, Sroka said Jones began performing CPR until the man regained consciousness and emergency personnel arrived to provide medical treatment.
For her lifesaving efforts, Sroka presented Jones with the chief’s award.
“This certificate of appreciation is awarded for your quick and decisive life-saving aid that you provided on the afternoon of Jan. 7th that clearly went well beyond your normal duties,” said Sroka.
“I am very humbled and I am grateful to be working for the city of Gaithersburg for Wells/Robertson House,” said Jones. “I just thank God that he used me as an instrument, as a vessel, to resuscitate the client.”
