Gaithersburg Officer Earns Service Award

Gaithersburg Police Officer Noah Grubic got a special award for his actions in helping track down a man who cut another person with a knife but it wasn’t while he was on the job and it wasn’t even in his own state.

On Aug. 31 Grubic was off duty in Cleona, Pa., when he saw a man carrying a knife, being chased by another man and woman, according to a press release from the City of Gaithersburg.  The group ran down a residential street, stopped and began verbally arguing with one another.  The argument escalated into a physical fight when the man  with the knife swung it at the other man, causing a non-life threatening cut, according to the press rlease. After the fight, the group separated and the man with the knife ran toward a parking lot, still armed, according to a press release from Gaithersburg.  Grubic notified the Cleona Borough Police Department and followed the man, according to the release. When officers arrived, Grubic identified the man and assisted with his arrest.  The victim has since been treated and released from the hospital, according to the press release.

On Oct. 6,  the Cleona Borough City Council  recognized Grubic, 3- year veteran of the Gaithersburg Police Department, with a Meritorious Service Award for his actions.
