Gaithersburg Mayor Katz Committed to Biotech
In a news release issued today by his County Council campaign, Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz said he is reaffirming his commitment to biotech along the Interstate 270 corridor.
“Last week I spoke to Steve Silverman, Director of Montgomery Economic Development for Montgomery County about the concern that the incubator relocation has caused for those businesses that are located in the County’s incubator,” said Katz. “When I was a member of the Gaithersburg City Council, we helped bring MedImmune to Gaithersburg. Now – decades later, our community is home for some of the most important tech and bio-tech businesses in the world. The businesses associated with the incubator could become the next world renowned business that stays in our area and employs so many with jobs that are the envy of other places,” continued Katz. “Steve [Silverman] said that he has heard us and that he will continue to work with us.”
Katz has been the Mayor of Gaithersburg since 1998. He is running for the open seat in the Montgomery County Council District 3 race.
