Gaithersburg High School Student Recognized After Receiving Girl Scout Gold Award (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)
Rachel Coates is a senior at Gaithersburg High School and now, she’s a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient. Over 4,000 Girl Scouts across the country are eligible to apply for the prestigious award, but few receive it.
To be eligible, a scout must complete a seven step project surrounding a specific issue. Coates chose to complete her project by filming and editing a public service announcement about 22q, which is a rare genetic disorder. Rachel received an award from the City of Gaithersburg for her work to obtain the Gold Award. In this MyMCMedia Extra video, Rachel’s mother, Kim Coates and Principal of Gaithersburg High School, Catherine Handy talk about Rachel’s achievements.
