Twice is Nice

The Gaithersburg High School girls basketball team, which finished 27-0 and extended its two-year winning streak to 52 straight games, was honored by the Montgomery County Council on April 24 after it became only the second Montgomery County team to win back-to-back Maryland 4A state girls championships. During its two-year domination, Coach Adrian McDaniel’s team won every game by eight points or more. Councilmembers Phil Andrews (far left) and Craig Rice (second from left) presented a proclamation on behalf of the Council. Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz (second from right) and Council member Cathy Drzyzgula (far right) were among those attending the ceremonies.
