Gaithersburg Declares Snow Emergency, Cancellations
The city of Gaithersburg has declared a snow emergency beginning at 12 a.m. on March 3.
All cars parked on snow emergency routes must be removed or they could be ticketed or towed.
Gaithersburg officials have also announced that recycling and bulk pick-up for Monday, March 3 is being suspended. For those whose regular recycling day is Monday, recycling will be picked up on Saturday, March 8. For those whose bulk pick-up day is scheduled for March 3, bulk pick-up will take place on Monday, March 10.
Residents are also reminded not to push or blow snow from driveways or parking spaces back into streets once plowing operations have begun, and they are also reminded that they are responsible for clearing sidewalks abutting their property. This is often easier to accomplish if done during or immediately following the weather event.
Additional information about closures and conditions in Gaithersburg will be posted on the City’s website at www.gaithersburgmd.gov. Residents are also urged to register for Alert Gaithersburg, an emergency notification system that delivers messages simultaneously to multiple devices. Sign up at http://alert.gaithersburgmd.gov.
