Gaithersburg Announces Changes to Some Camp Locations

Summer CampsSeveral changes are being made to Gaithersburg’s summer camp programs due to construction projects and scheduling conflicts with Montgomery County Public Schools. The FunZone program at Fields Road Elementary School will not be held this summer.

Camp Imagination will be relocated to Thurgood Marshall Elementary School, 12260 McDonald Chapel Drive. It will continue to operate as an all-day elementary school site conducted in four separate sessions. Session I runs from June 16 – June 27; Session II from June 30 – July 11; Session III from July 14 – 25; and Session IV from July 28 – August 1. All-day camps operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended aftercare available for an additional fee from 4 to 6 p.m.

Kinderplay, the new kindergarten camp for ages five and six, will also be relocated to Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. The small camp size creates a warm and nurturing environment perfect for students who need a bridge between day care and the full day elementary school camp experience. Participants will enjoy socializing, story time, games, recess, and arts and crafts.

Registration for City of Gaithersburg residents begins February 5. Open registration begins March 5. For complete details pick up a “Summer in the City” camp guide at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue next to Gaithersburg High School, or go online to www.gaithersburgmd.gov/camps. Online registration is also available at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/RecXpress.
