Fresh TV Celebrates 100 Episodes (Photos)
Congratulations to Frank Nelson, the executive producer of Fresh TV, for producing the show’s 100th episode.
The episode features music by Reesa Renee, a visit from Joanna Chery (Miss Maryland Jr. Teen) and a special performance by Miss Cookie.
Fresh TV is a talent showcase created primarily to provide a means of artistic expression to help foster a sense of pride, instill motivation, inspiration and self determination in African American youth. It originated in the Lynn section of Boston, MA at LynnCAM TV (Warner Cable Television), according to Nelson.
“As a teenager I became involved in community theatre at the African Cultural Center and the Black Drama Workshop in Buffalo, NY. After school and on weekends I worked as a Stage Manager and Lighting/Sound Technician. I volunteered at WBFO-FM (Satellite Studio) at the University of Buffalo. WBFO soon hired me as a disc jockey, audio board operator, and Satellite Studio Operations Manager. In the early 70’s I moved to Boston, MA and received a degree in Broadcast Communications. I worked in commercial Radio as a Broadcast Engineer, Disc Jockey, and Television Production Technician. Truly blessed am I to be enjoying this profession while working in a field that was originally just my hobby,” said Nelson.
Nelson’s daughters, Tiffany Elyse and Chantel Aisha, are the hosts of Fresh TV. Tiffany Elyse has a BA in Communications and Chantel Aisha has a BA in Biology and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree at Purdue University.
Nelson himself is employed as a Network Satellite Technician at NPR and a Broadcast Production Engineer at RFA.
“My hobbies include dancing, listening to good music, and producing the award-winning Fresh TV,” he said.
Nelson received the Monty award for most studio producer hours at an awards ceremony in November. (See photo below)

Congrats Mr Nelson hopefully we will be talking soon
Congratulations! I’m looking forward to and an excited about the possibilities! Great job! I love your vision.
I can’t believe this. You were so great in my eyes how hard you worked on freshtv
Tiffany and Chantel, I am so saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. I worked with him back in 1979-80 at WUNR/WBOS in Boston. everyone loved Frank. Especially his sense of humor. at the time, the song ‘Rapper’s Delight’ by the Sugarhill Gang was a hot hit. one of the lyrics was ‘like Frankie Crocker in ster-e-o’ so we made our own version that went ‘like Frankie Nelson in ster-e-o’! your dad was an engineer there and not on air but that was a way we could make him a star! I was so happy to run into him again a few years ago while visiting NPR. Everyone who ever crossed paths with him has only fond memories of him. I am so sorry for your loss, and believe me, Frank’s passing is a loss to everyone who ever knew him, as well as to the broadcast industry. may you and your family be comforted in this difficult time.
