Franchot Visits Gaithersburg Shared Office Space (PHOTOS)
Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot visited Launch Workplaces, a coworking office space in Gaithersburg, as part of his Montgomery County tour on July 22.
Franchot and Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman visited the commercial office and had a conversation with current tenants about their experience on this new office approach.
Ashman said the city is glad to have Launch Workplaces in Gaithersburg and said he wanted to show support to start up businesses that can potentially open offices in the city.
“Our goal is to continue to grow the economy in Gaithersburg and the number of jobs in the city. And to keep the office vacancy rate low,” Ashman said.
During the tour, Launch Workplaces representatives said the company opened last fall and currently has 33 tenants with office space and 15 virtual clients who use the site for mailing purposes, private offices, co-working areas, conference rooms and lounge areas.
Franchot also visited the newly renovated Benjamin Gaither Center also in Gaithersburg. According to city officials, renovations totaled $923,625 dollars that included a state bond bill of $200,000.
