Fourth Person Charged in Montgomery Village Homicide
A Baltimore 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday, the fourth person charged in the Feb. 10 death of a Hyattsville man in Montgomery Village.
Police said the shooting was part of an attempt to rob a drug dealer.
Shiloh Young of the 4200 block of Willshire Avenue in Baltimore was arrested at his home on a Montgomery County arrest warrant for the homicide of 20-year-old Wassi Harron Raheem Young, according to a Montgomery County police statement.
Shiloh Young was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, online court records say. He is being held without bail, the records say.
Three others had been charged with first-degree murder for the homicide of Wassi Young. They were:
- Davion Antonio Foster, 20, Southeast, Washington, D.C. – arrested on March 15;
- Samuel Fayomi Brown, 20, of Hyattsville – arrested on March 9; and
- Tierek Ty Jay Thomas, 20, Northwest, Washington, D.C. – arrested March 9.
About 2:02 p.m. Feb. 10, emergency dispatchers received several 911 calls for a shooting that had just occurred in the 8500 block of Hawk Run Terrace. Officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area and found Wassi Young in the parking lot of the neighborhood suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Wassi Young died from his injuries at the scene, the police statement said.
During the on-scene investigation, detectives learned that a 23-year-old man had arrived at a local hospital with nonlifethreatening gunshot wounds. Investigators spoke with this person and determined that he was shot during the same incident in which Wassi Young was shot.
Detectives have determined that Shiloh Young, Davion Foster, Samuel Brown, Tierek Thomas and Wassi Young wanted to rob a drug seller, police said. The five, together at a home on Hawk Run Terrace, called various people that they knew sold drugs, police said.
Shiloh Young contacted a seller who agreed to drive to the area of Hawk Run Terrace and sell them marijuana, police said. This person was later identified as the 23-year-old man with the gunshot wound.
The seller drove to the 8500 block of Hawk Run Terrace and parked his vehicle. Wassi Young, Foster, Brown and Thomas encountered the seller and tried to rob him at gunpoint, police said. Shots were fired and Wassi Young and the seller were shot.
After the shooting, all parties fled. Wassi Young died of his injuries in the neighborhood parking lot, police said.
On Tuesday, detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department charged Shiloh Young with armed robbery, first-degree assault, and theft offenses related to a March 1 armed robbery that occurred in the area of Wheelwright Drive and Buhrstone Drive in Gaithersburg, police said.
