Four Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Workers Have COVID-19
Three additional Montgomery County Fire and Rescue workers have tested positive for COVID-19, for a total of four personnel, Pete Piringer, MCFD spokesperson, said Friday.
Another 19 people have been quarantined, he said.
“They didn’t catch it at work,” he said. None of the cases are work-related, he stressed.
Piringer did not specify which fire departments were involved.
On Thursday, eight of those 19 people were sent home “out of an abundance of caution,” Piringer said. County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles made that decision, he said.
A spokesperson for the County Health and Human Services Department would not elaborate, stating, “We don’t have any additional details to share.”
MCFR has 1,318 full-time positions and an operating budget of $223,250,000, according to its 2020 Fiscal Year budget.
