Four Armed Robberies Reported in Montgomery Police Crime Summary

The latest Montgomery County police crime summary lists four armed robberies, two each in Silver Spring and Wheaton.

In one, police are searching for a man, about age 30, for an armed robbery in the 700 block of Gilbert Street in Silver Spring in the early morning hours of July 17. One man displayed a weapon and took another man’s cash.

In another, a man, between the ages of 25 and 30, committed a commercial armed robbery at the Metro PCS store at 13868 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring about 4:14 p.m. July 15. The man implied that he had a weapon and stole cash.

In Wheaton, two men, ages unknown, committed an armed robbery in the area of Bel Pre Road and Weeping Willow Drive about 10:50 p.m. July 12. One man displayed a weapon. Both men assaulted a third man and took his cash.

Also in Wheaton, police seek two men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the 2500 block of Ennalls Avenue about 11:50 p.m. July 18. One man displayed a weapon. The men took the adult male victim’s property.

Rockville:

Two commercial burglaries occurred at the Castle Mini Storage at 12040 Parklawn Drive:

  • In the early morning hours of July 15. Forced entry; property was taken.
  • About 11:37 p.m. July 17. Forced entry; property was taken. Two 22-year-olds from Silver Spring were arrested.

Two 12-year-olds from Potomac were arrested for a burglary at Herbert Hoover Middle School at 8810 Postoak Road in the early morning hours of July 14. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; nothing was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 13500 block of Gum Spring Drive between about 10:30 a.m. and about 5:49 p.m. July 18. Forced entry; property was taken.

Bethesda:

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 3300 block of University Boulevard West about 10:15 a.m. July 12. Two men, ages 20 to 25, assaulted the adult female victim and took her cash and property.

Three thefts from vehicles occurred between July 10 and July 17. Two of the thefts occurred in the 5400 block of McGrath Boulevard and the third occurred in the 11800 block of Old Georgetown Road. No force, two vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicle; property was taken.

Three thefts from vehicles occurred between about 8 p.m. July 11 and about 9 a.m. July 12. Two thefts occurred in the 7400 block of Crestberry Lane and the third occurred in the 10100 block of Langhorne Court. No force, two vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicle; cash and property were taken.

A commercial burglary occurred at the Chipotle restaurant inside Westfield Montgomery mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd. in the early morning hours of July 15. No signs of forced entry; nothing was taken. Two males in their late teens, a female in her late teens.

Silver Spring:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between about 12 a.m. July 15 and about 4:43 p.m. July 16. Affected streets included Silver Spring, Gardiner, Brunswick and Wayne avenues, and Cameron and Insley streets. Force was reported in multiple events, three vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked; cash and property were taken.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road about 12:14 p.m. July 14. One man, between the ages of 20 and 29, assaulted another man, and took his property.

Two strong-arm robberies occurred:

  • In the 10100 block of New Hampshire Avenue about 4 p.m. July 11. A man, between the ages of 20 and 29, assaulted the juvenile male victim and took his cash.
  • In the area of Avenel Road and Hampshire West Court about 11:25 p.m. July 16. Three males, between the ages of 15 and 17, assaulted the adult male victim and took his cash and property.

A residential burglary occurred in the 3000 block of Greencastle Road about 8:34 p.m. July 12. Forced entry; property was taken. A 27-year-old man from Hyattsville was arrested. Another person is also sought.

Wheaton:

Two residential burglaries occurred:

  • In the 1500 block of Hugo Circle about 10:53 a.m. July 12. Forced entry; property was taken.
  • In the 13300 block of Sherwood Forest Drive between about 1 p.m. and about 4:20 p.m. July 12. Forced entry; property was taken.

A strong-arm robbery occurred near Queensguard and Layhill roads in the early morning hours of July 14. Four men and a woman, ages unknown, assaulted the adult male victim and took his property.

Police are seeking a male in his late teens for an attempted residential burglary in the 13500 block of Moonlight Trail Drive about 10:36 a.m. July 18.

A residential shed burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Brighton Dam Road between about 9 p.m. July 16 and about 7:30 a.m. July 17. No signs of forced entry, the shed was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

A man is sought for an attempted residential burglary in the 14200 block of Wolf Creek Place that occurred about 3:24 p.m. July 17.

Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 2900 block of Sheraton Street in the early morning hours of July 12. Force was reported in one event, unknown means of entry into the other vehicle; property was taken.

A residential burglary in the 2600 block of Henderson Avenue occurred between about 10:30 p.m. July 12 and about 6 a.m. July 13. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

Three Silver Spring teen-aged boys were arrested for a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the 3200 block of Paul Drive about 11:30 p.m. July 12. No force; nothing was taken. Three suspects were arrested. Two 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 2600 block of Elnora Street between about 11:01 a.m. July 16 and about 9 a.m. July 17.

Germantown:

An aggravated assault occurred in the 9800 block of Bethesda Church Road about 9:45 p.m. July 12. The perpetrator assaulted the adult male victim.

Two men are sought for a residential burglary in the 18800 block of Bent Willow Circle between about 11 a.m. and about 11:40 a.m. July 11. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

A Germantown 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a strong-arm robbery in the 19900 block of Aircraft Drive about 9:54 p.m. July 12. The man took the adult male victim’s property.

A Germantown 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a strong-arm robbery near Mateny Road and Quiet Oak Lane about 10:04 p.m. July 12. The boy and another perpetrator took the adult male victim’s property.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between July 13 and July 16. Affected streets included Mustard Seed Court; McFarlin, Sparkling Water and Cottage Garden drives; Mateny Hill Road; and Rushing Water Way. Force was reported in one event, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

A Germantown 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a theft on Summit Ridge Court.

Montgomery Village:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between about 12 a.m. July 11 and about 8:30 a.m. July 12. Affected streets included Plum Creek and Maple Leaf drives, and Beaver Ridge Road. No force, multiple vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

A man burglarized Montgomery County Liquor and Wine store at 20004 Goshen Road in the early morning hours of July 14. Forced entry; merchandise was taken.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 8400 block of Meadow Green Way about 10:20 a.m. July 14. Two men assaulted the adult male victim and took his cash.
