Forum on the Future of Olney Town Commons to Be Held on May 20

Staff from the Montgomery County Department of General Services (DGS) are inviting residents to attend a planning forum to discuss the types of programming and amenities they would like to see in an anticipated outdoor Town Commons in Olney on May 20.

One of the goals of the Olney Master Plan, approved in 2005, was to create a civic center in the Town Center through redevelopment of  a  major shopping center or a public-private partnership, according to a news release. As a result of the approval of this plan, the Olney Town Center Advisory Committee was formed to create a community-based vision of what the future Town Center could look like.

DGS staff along with an architecture team from OKKS Studios will give background and progress of the project and information on what’s next in the process.

The forum, a drop-in event,  will take place at the Olney Library, 3500 Olney Laytonsville Road from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Following this event, DGS staff and the OKKS Studios team will report the community’s input during interviews conducted with local businesses and community organizations.
