Former NFL Player Tackles Law & Order

Robert Bass used to suit up for the Bears and the Packers. Now he wants to add a badge to his wardrobe, according to his campaign’s FaceBook page.  A Silver Spring resident, Bass, 50, joins the race for Montgomery County Sheriff in the Democratic primary.

Bass served as a Deputy Sheriff for the county for six years before leaving office to run his own private security company in 2014.

Last month, current Sheriff Darren Popkin declared he would not seek a 4th term. Chief Deputy Maxwell Uy has also registered in the Democratic primary.

The deadline to file is February 22, 2022. The primary will be held on June 28, 2022.
