Former Governor Martin O’Malley Named 2017 Champion Award Winner
Former Governor Martin O’Malley has been named the inaugural Maryland Champion Award Winner for 2017.
This award will be presented by Sandy Spring Museum during its Maryland Champion Gala scheduled for Nov. 16, according to a news release.
The gala will feature live music, fine dining, an open bar, a silent auction, an awards ceremony and an after party where attendees will have the opportunity to meet O’Malley.
“Sandy Spring Museum celebrates the diversity of its community and creates a place for all people to come together,” Allison Weiss, the museum’s executive director, said. “The Maryland Champion Award honors individuals whose life in public service has also been about bringing people together. Governor O’Malley was a very appropriate choice. ”
“It is a humbling honor to receive the Maryland Champion Award,” O’Malley said in a statement. “It is essential that Sandy Spring Museum continues to tell the stories of Maryland’s past and present, and I look forward to attending an event that helps support the Museum and its mission as a cultural and community gathering place.”
