For Spirit Head Coach, Getting Lavelle and Pugh Back is ‘Like Christmas Day’

The Washington Spirit held their final training session before Saturday night’s home game against the Houston Dash. The extreme heat caused head coach Richie Burke to shorten practice at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds. Two players from the U.S. World Cup champion team, Rose Lavelle and Mallory Pugh, are back with the team and their coach could not be happier.

Lavelle did not practice with the team as she is still dealing with an injured hamstring suffered during the World Cup and will not play tomorrow night. Pugh is expected to play and possibly start. Lavelle could play as early as next Wednesday in the Spirit’s next game on the road against Sky Blue in Piscataway Township, New Jersey.
