Food Day

The nationwide celebration of the movement toward more healthy, affordable and sustainable food that is known as “Food Day” was recognized by the Montgomery County Council on Oct. 23.

Among those attending the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Judith Clarke of Women Who Care Ministries; Piotr Weilezynski and Hokuma Karimova of the University of Maryland Food Recovery Network; Minerva Delgado of Manna Food; Pat Drumming of the Rainbow Family Christian Center; Jessica Weiss of the Montgomery County Food Council; County Councilmembers Valerie Ervin and George Leventhal; Ben Simon of the Food Recovery Network; Cheryl Newman, Lindsay Smith and Dick Stoner of the Food Council; and Catherine Kastleman of the Center for Science and Public Interest.
