Floreen Announces She is Not Running for Congress
Montgomery County Council Vice President Nancy Floreen announced on April 6th that she is not running for the Eighth Congressional District seat to be vacated by Chris Van Hollen.
On her Facebook page, Floreen explained how she reached her decision.
“I am extremely grateful for the outpouring of support I received as I considered this opportunity,” Floreen said. “But, at the end of the day, while I am convinced I could win and could raise the money necessary for such a run, I do not want to condemn myself to the lifetime of fundraising a member of Congress must endure.”
Floreen also noted how much she enjoys serving the residents of Montgomery County.
“It is a great honor to serve my community of over one million people on the County Council, and I believe I can accomplish more here than at any other level of public service,” she said.
