Flooring Store in Derwood Collecting Stuffed Animals for First Responders
A flooring store in Derwood is collecting stuffed animals through the end of November to donate to the county police and the county fire and rescue services. At Your Door Floor Store plans to donate the stuffed animals for first responders to use to comfort children involved in 911 emergency situations.
The owner of the store, Rebecca Shipe, remembers being in a car accident with her brother when they were young children. First responders gave Shipe and her brother a stuffed animal, which alleviated their fear.
NBC4 News reporter Molette Green visited the store Tuesday morning and spoke with Shipe about the drive.
At Your Door Floor Store is located at 17617 Redland Road in Derwood. They are accepting donations of stuffed animals through Thursday.
