Flashband to Bring First Concert to Silver Spring

FlashbandFlashband, a local project aimed at bringing musicians together, is holding it’s first show in Silver Spring on May 16.

This project features high school and college-age musicians who form their own band and rehearsed for about four weeks under the guidance of a seasoned adult mentor musician then perform at the free showcase event.

“What’s unique about this show is that it’s a ‘best of” Flashband event,” said Cody Valentine, an organizer with the Flashband project. “We reached out to some of the most popular bands that have formed through our community and asked them to participate. You’ll be hearing some of the best musicians we’ve had the pleasure of working with.”

Valentine says he hopes the event gives the young musicians a chance to show the community their talent.

“I hope that the bands get a kick out of performing in such a large venue, and that the crowd sees the amazing Flashband energy and become fans,” Valentine said. “I also hope any musicians out there willing to take a chance musically will follow up and join in with Flashband.”

The show begins at 7 p.m. at Veteran’s Plaza in Silver Spring.
