Flash Flood Watch Issued for Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood watch in Montgomery County for Friday afternoon through late Friday night.

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to hit portions of Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and West Virginia. Rainfall could exceed three inches locally, according to the alert. Flash flooding is possible, particularly in urban areas.

The NWS urges residents to take flash flood watches seriously. It encourages members of the affected communities to monitor later forecasts and prepare to take action if a warning is issued.
