Flags Ordered to Half Staff (PHOTO)

President Barack Obama has ordered the American flag to half staff until sunset on Sept. 30, in respect of former Israeli President Shimon Peres, who passed away this week.

As matter of protocol, the Maryland flag has been lowered to half staff as well because no flag may be flown higher than the flag of the United States.
