Flags Lowered to Half Staff In Honor of Former First Lady Barbara Bush

Flags have been lowered to half staff as a mark of respect for the memory of Barbara Bush who passed away Tuesday. President Donald Trump ordered the United States Flag to half staff in a proclamation Tuesday evening.
As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.
The proclamation begins:
“On this solemn day, we mourn the loss of Barbara Bush, an outstanding and memorable woman of character. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, military spouse, and former First Lady, Mrs. Bush was an advocate of the American family. Mrs. Bush lived a life that reminds us always to cherish our relationships with friends, family, and all acquaintances. In the spirit of the memory of Mrs. Bush, may we always remember to be kind to one another and to put the care of others first.”

The Washington Post reports that the former first lady will be interred at the grounds of the Bush library at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, Saturday, April 21.
Flags will continue to fly at half staff until sunset on April 21.

US & MD flags is to be flown at HALF STAFF from sunrise on 04/18/2018 until sunset, on the day of interment. This Presidential Proclamation is a mark of respect for the memory of First Lady Barbara Bush.
