1. A retaining wall collapsed in Gaithersburg on Sunday and two nearby Kentlands homes were evacuated and a portion of Quince Orchard Road remains closed in case of a mudslide.

2. Kindergarten orientation begins in Montgomery County Public Schools this week.

3. Montgomery County’s permitting services department is holding an open house today to show off its new fee payment office at 255 Rockville Pike.

4. Montgomery County Council Committees are meeting today, and on the agenda is charging stations for electric vehicles, the Gude landfill, economic development strategies and cybersecurity. Council President Craig Rice will also hold his weekly briefing today.

5. Today is the open enrollment deadline to sign up for the Affordable Care Act.
