April 2.Here at the five things you need to know today, April 2, in Montgomery County:

1. Firefighters remain at the scene of Gables Upper Rock apartment complex , which was the scene of a massive fire on April 1. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said firefighters are preparing for demolition.

2. Light it up blue! That’s because April is National Autism Awareness Month and today is  the 7th annual World Autism Awareness Day. Next month, Montgomery County police plan to hold the 2nd annual “Autism Night Out, a community event scheduled for May 30 at the Montgomery County public safety training academy.

3. The Montgomery County Council has approved $58 million for the new Wheaton Library and Recreation Center.

4. Storyteller Sheila Kay Adams will be at Montgomery College tonight.

5.The spring session of Montgomery County Public Schools Parent Academy begins today. Find out more here.
