Here are five things to know today, Sept. 19, in Montgomery County:
1. Council President Briefing: Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen meets with the media today for the first time since the Council’s summer break.
2. Gaithersburg Meeting: The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council members are meeting at City Hall tonight and on the agenda is a public hearing on the annexation and rezoning of the Johnson property located on Route 28.
3. Rockville Meeting: The Rockville Mayor and City Council members are meeting at City Hall tonight and on the agenda is a public hearing on a zoning amendment to allow installation of small cell towers.
4. Be Prepared: Montgomery County’s first emergency preparedness class for residents takes place tonight in Silver Spring. Pre-registration is required, here.
5. Planning Meeting: The Planning Department will hold a public meeting about short-term residential rentals, such as Airbnb. To attend, please RSVP online. Learn more about the Short-Term Residential Rental project.
Two more things:
- The JCRC of Greater Washington is hosting a Candidate Forum for the Congressional District 6 seat. Incumbent Congressman John Delaney (D) and challenger Amie Hoeber (R) will discuss the issues in back to back time slots.
- Gaithersburg’s Community Museum is celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day with an afternoon of activities from 3 to 6 p.m.
