Here are five things to know today, Oct. 9, in Montgomery County:

1. Montgomery County Police will be at Forest Park Apartments in Silver Spring today passing out fliers and looking for information about a suspect who is wanted for an armed robbery that occurred on Sept. 29.

2. County officials are scheduled to discuss some of the county’s most congested intersections at a Transportation Committee meeting today. Also on the agenda: taxi cabs and Uber.

3. County Councilmember Nancy Navarro will receive the outstanding elected official award from Governor Martin O’Malley on Oct. 15.

4. Bethesda Green holds its 5th annual gala tonight.

5. The Arts and Humanities Council has announced the winners of the 2014 County Executive Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities.
