1. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the state flag to half staff in honor of a U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier from Takoma Park who was killed while on patrol in Afghanistan this week.
2. FEMA has activated a team of Montgomery County firefighters, who are trained in urban search and rescue, to help the southern states with their response for Hurricane Matthew.
3. Today is National Coffee with a Cop Day, and the Montgomery County Police Department has events planned around the county.
4. Trader’s Joe is opening a new location at Traville Square Shopping Center, according to published reports.
