Five Things to Know Today, Oct. 6, in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Oct. 6, in Montgomery County, Maryland:

1. Schools close early: Students attending the public schools will get an early start to their weekend. The school day ends after lunch.

2. Pool closing for the weekend: The Germantown Indoor Swim Center closes for the weekend at 2 p.m. today.

 

3. Paper shredding: Bring up to five paper bags or small cardboard boxes of paper for shredding to Walter Johnson High School Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

4. Germantown Library turns 10: The Germantown Library celebrates its 10th anniversary Saturday with crafts, jazz performance, and a scavenger hunt. Roz Rosen, Director of the National Center on Deafness, will tell fairy tales in American Sign Language with voice interpretation.

5. “Walking While Black: L.O.V.E. is the Answer” film screening and panel discussion:  Take part in this community event Sunday at The People’s Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring. Register online, here.
