1. A minimum wage rally is planned today in Silver Spring.

2. Several new state laws are going into effect today, including an extension of the “move over” law for motorists passing tow trucks on the side of the road. October is also Domestic Violence Awareness month.

3. Holy Cross Hospital opens its doors in Germantown today.

4. Maryland State Police will not issue an Amber Alert for the missing Hoggle toddlers. Sarah (3) and Jacob (2) have been missing for more than three weeks now.

5. Cashell Elementary has been named a National Blue Ribbon School.
