Here are five things to know today, Nov. 2, in Montgomery County:
1. Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will speak at the County’s snow summit today. Officials from all County agencies with snow removal responsibilities will assess readiness for winter storms and discuss new initiatives.
2. Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz is scheduled to host a community meeting starting at 7 p.m. at the Benjamin Gaither Center in Gaithersburg. Katz will provide updates on public safety, the proposed Corridor Cities Transitway and funding status for the Watkins Mill Interchange on I-270.
3. The County’s Office of Community Partnerships and County Executive Ike Leggett will host a Diwali celebration tonight at the Executive Office Building.
4. Glen Echo Park is hosting a free workshop for teen artists to prepare for National Portfolio Day tonight.
5. You can vote early from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at ten locations across Montgomery County today. Early voting continues thru Nov. 3rd. The Presidential General Election is just under a week away on Nov. 8.
One more thing:
- Residents can apply for Montgomery County HealthConnection starting this month. For coverage that begins Jan. 1, 2017, the deadline to apply is Dec. 15th. Open enrollment will close Jan. 31, 2017.
