Here are five things to know today, Nov. 16, in Montgomery County:
1. The School Board has proposed that the 2017-2018 school year begin September 5, 2017, the Tuesday after Labor Day, and end no later than Friday, June 15, 2018.
2. The Montgomery County Council passed a resolution on Tuesday, denouncing discrimination, racial bias, hate speech, hate crimes and harassment.
3. Marilyn J. Praisner library is hosting local author Wynston Wilson at 7 p.m. Wilson will talk about his best selling book, “Antidotes for Adversity: 21 Effective Ways to Get Through Life’s Toughest Challenges.”
4. Winners of the National Philharmonic concerto competition for high school musicians will be performing this week at The Music Center at Strathmore. The winners will be performing with the National Philharmonic, conducted by Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski
5. Multi-Grammy Award nominee Dwele is performing at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club tonight.
