1. The Board of Education is holding its second public hearing on the superintendent’s proposed amendments to the 2017-2022 Capital Improvements Program tonight at 7 p.m. The slots to speak are full but you can email your comments to boe@mcpsmd.org. The meeting will be streamed live on the district’s website and on MCPS-TV.

2. Many MCPS parents are still talking about a recent letter that Dr. Jack Smith sent home about the election results and what’s being done in the schools to help students process the outcome.

3. A sanctuary city, Takoma Park officials say they are receiving questions about the election results and the potential impact on the city. “We have no interest or authority in the deportation of immigrants,” writes Police Chief Alan Goldberg in a message posted on the city’s website.

4. The city of Gaithersburg is considering using drones for a variety of reasons, including photography, permitting, and code enforcement.  A Drone Program is just one of the topics on the agenda at tonight’s Mayor and City Council work session.

5. Registration begins today for Montgomery County’s winter classes, programs and events. You can also sign up for the 100-mile challenge as of today.
