Here are five things to know today, May 4, in Montgomery County:

1. Improved transit: The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is working to improve the Lakeforest Transit Center. Residents are invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. at South Lake Elementary School, Gaithersburg.

2. Pop-Up Parks: Montgomery Parks latest “pop-up park” is at Fairview Road Urban Park.

3. Farmers Market: Fulks Farmer’s Market starts today at Md. 355 and Fulks Corner Avenue in Gaithersburg.

4. Racism discussion: IMPACT NOW! 2017 welcomes Dr. Yanique Redwood as its keynote speaker as the event convenes to discuss steps to take to achieve racial equity in Montgomery County. The free event begins at 6 p.m. at the  Silver Spring Civic Building.

5. Fallen heroes: On Wednesday, Montgomery County honored the police officers who have died in the past year. Check out our video here.
