Here are five things to know today, March 31, in Montgomery County:

1. Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford is scheduled to deliver remarks at the Capital Region Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s Super Matchmaking Conference at the Silver Spring Civic Center.

2. The Germantown Library hosts a Job Search Strategies Workshop at 11 a.m. The workshops help job seekers learn how to brand themselves using a variety of job-search strategies (including social media and volunteer experience), to accelerate job searches and to stand out from other applicants.

3. The WSSC Women’s Business Owners’ Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg. The expo celebrates women entrepreneurs in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties who are creating jobs.

4. Ocean Orchestra, led by composer and producer Jennifer Cutting, blends folk rock with the timeless beauty of the Celtic tradition. Show starts at 8 p.m. at AMP by Strathmore in North Bethesda.

5. Journey back to the 1800s during this special night hike, “Voices of the Underground Railroad,” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Underground Railroad Experience Trail, Sandy Spring. The cost is $5 per person. Registration required through ActiveMontgomery.org. Tickets not available onsite.

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce hosts the 43rd annual Public Safety awards luncheon, which will honor first responders’ valor during the past year. The event will be at the Montgomery County Conference Center in North Bethesda.
