Here are five things to know today, March 27, in Montgomery County:

1. Rockville’s Mayor and Council plans a hearing on whether to expand its smoking and vaping ban to establishments with outdoor seating. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

2. Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council has scheduled a work session on the Kentlands Apartments. The session starts at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

3. An urban park “pops up” at Fairview Urban Park in Silver Spring from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday’s event focuses on pop-up recess.

4. Councl President Roger Berliner plans to meet with reporters at 11:30. Unlike other weeks, Berliner doesn’t have a list of topics he plans to discuss.

5. The County Council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee focuses on affordable housing in the Bethesda Downtown Plan. The meeting starts at 2 p.m.
