Here are five things to know today, March 24, in Montgomery County:
1. Earlier in the week, Gov. Larry Hogan criticized Montgomery County Public Schools over its handling of the rape charges at Rockville High School. On Thursday, at an event in Bethesda, he seemed to tone down his rhetoric, saying he believed the school system was treating the matter very seriously.
2. The Montgomery Preservation Awards Ceremony is at 6 p.m. at the Historic Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station.
3. The Rockville Police Department is having a moon bounce for children in grades 3 through 7 at the Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive. Cost is $10 for residents and $12 for nonresidents.
4. Domestic Pursuits at BlackRock Center for the Arts is a three-person exhibit of hand-pulled prints and stitched and woven textile works. The artists include Nancy McNamara, Dominie Nash, and Hillary Steel. The exhibit is on display in the Kay Gallery and runs through April 15.
5. The second audition for MoCo’s Got Talent starts at 5 p.m. at the Lawton Community Center.
