Here are five things to know today, March 8, in Montgomery County:

1. Quince Orchard High School defeated Wise in the 4A semifinal.

2. Police Chief Tom Manger and Montgomery College President DeRionne P. Pollard talked about race, diversity and community policing.

3. Catherine Leggett, wife of the county executive, will emcee Montgomery County Recreation’s Teen Fashion Boot Camp at East County Rec Center at 7 p.m.

4. Spring and summer have to be right around the corner. Little Bennett Campground is open for Friday and Saturday camping.

5. The Purple Line faces another delay. This time, trees that house springtime nests for owls and other birds can’t be cut down, which would be a necessary step to start construction.
