Here are five things to know today, June 27, in Montgomery County:

1. Council Agenda: The Montgomery County Council meets with a heavy agenda. Metro GM Paul Wiedefeld will talk about making the transit agency safe, reliable and affordable. The council also is scheduled to approve its transportation priorities letter.

2. Regionally Speaking: Also part of the council’s agenda Tuesday is a brown bag lunch with the directors of the regional services centers.

3. Caregiver Support: Family Caregiver Support Group meets at 3 p.m. at the Village at Rockville. For more information, contact Sharon Flowers-Williams at 301.354.4600 or Janet Carter at 240.780.2667.

4. Street Work: Gaithersburg’s Department of Public Works is scheduled to close a portion of Victory Farm Drive between Kelley Park to Girard Street. The work will consist of reconstruction of the existing pavement and removal and replacement of deteriorated curb and sidewalk. Work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. through July 14. For more information and status updates, visit the city website or call the Department of Public Works.

5. Par for the Course: Defending Quicken Loans champ Billy Hurley III meets the press at TPC Potomac. The 72-hole Quicken Loans National features a field of 120 golfers and a $7.1 million purse, and runs from June 29-July 2.
