1. The Montgomery County Planning Board will be meeting today and on the agenda; the Johnson Property Annexation Petition. You can watch the meeting live on the Planning Board’s website.
2. Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld announced the appointment of Joseph Leader as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) in charge of rail, bus, and paratransit. Leader’s appointment is effective in August.
3. The first round of Professional Play take place at Congressional Country Club today for the Quicken Loans National golf tournament.
4. The Bethesda Big Train will honor Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg by retiring his number 5 at tonight’s game. Before the game, Aviva Kempner, producer of the documentary “The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg,” will give a talk about what Greenberg meant to America and the Jewish community. Rabbi David Shneyer will also perform a Yiddish rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” during the game.
5. Little Falls Library will feature a discussion with author Frank Huffman.
