1. Summer Vacation: It’s the first day of summer and the last day of school for Montgomery County Public Schools students. Today is an early release day for MCPS.

2. A New Chapter: The Friends of the Library is opening the Wheaton Bookstore at 10 a.m. today at 8901 Colesville Road, the site of the old Silver Spring Library.

3. Newly Renovated: Gaithersburg leaders are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Casey Community Center today at 6 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house.

4. Development News: In the city of Rockville, a discussion about Chestnut Lodge is on the Mayor and Council’s agenda tonight. The Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall and the Chestnut Lodge discussion is tentatively scheduled for 8:45 p.m.

5. Safe Silver Spring:  Representatives from the Montgomery County Police Department are planning to brief residents about the deployment plan for body-worn cameras at tonight’s Safe Silver Spring meeting.  The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Long Branch Community Center.
