Here are five things to know today, Jan. 9, in Montgomery County:
1. Bundle up! It’s going to be a cold Monday. The National Weather Service predicts high temps to be near 30 degrees.
2. Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Governor Larry Hogan is scheduled to present a proclamation at 11 a.m. at the Maryland State House.
3. In Rockville, the police department is hosting Coffee with a Cop, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., at Coffee Republic in the King Farm Village Center. This is an event where Rockville residents can meet their neighborhood police officers. Tonight, you can also meet the new Rockville city manager at a meet and greet reception from 6 – 7 p.m. at City Hall.
4. Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett encourages you to attend one of his five budget forums this month. The first forum takes place tonight at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Services Center.
5. Just one week from today is the county’s annual birthday tribute and celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Music Center at Strathmore. Request your free tickets for this event, here.
One more thing: Leadership Montgomery is holding a town hall meeting tonight with Superintendent Jack Smith at Winston Churchill High School.
