1. Gaithersburg leaders were scheduled to discuss a request to annex the Potomac Valley Shopping Center into the city limits at tonight’s Mayor and Council meeting but that agenda item has now been deferred. Also at tonight’s meeting, city leaders are scheduled to discuss some proposed policy and operational changes for 2016 at Gaithersburg’s popular Water Park and there’s a public hearing scheduled about the use of the city’s Dog Exercise Area by nonresidents.
2. Montgomery County’s Animal Services Division seized 66 dogs on New Year’s Day from a Rockville home. We may learn about this investigation later today.
3. Ready to roll up your sleeves? Representatives from the American Red Cross are hoping you will help celebrate National Blood Donor Month by giving a blood contribution. The Bloodmobile will be at the Dunkin’ Donuts from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Rockville, today.
4. The Bethesda Circulator begins a new route today.
5. Also, Potomac resident and philanthropist Frank Islam is receiving the prestigious UP Ratna award from the government of Uttar Pradesh today.
