Here are your five things to know today, Feb. 9, in Montgomery County:

1. A Silver Spring man was one of two people injured in a small plane crash in Anne Arundel County on Sunday afternoon.

2. The Gaithersburg City Council will be holding its annual budget forum tonight and the public is invited to share their priorities with local leaders at City Hall.

3. There will be a public hearing on some proposed amendments to the City of Rockville’s animal control ordinance tonight. Find out more here.

4. The Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board meets tonight and the agenda is packed. County Councilmember Hans Riemer is scheduled to address the Board, a representative from Health and Human Services will provide information from Child Protective Services, and police are scheduled to give a 3rd District update as well.

5. A “sleep in” protest is scheduled this afternoon at the offices of Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville. The protest comes one day before a Board of Education vote on school bell times.
